state of the art Operation Theatres. The 3rd Floor dedicated to OT
services and houses a dedicated postoperative area for day care
patients, Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), O.T. stores, Central
Sterilization Stores Unit.
The CSSD department in addition to wet sterilization by Autoclave uses
the E.T.O Sterilization by a desiccated ETO Machine.
Nearly 15 major/ minor, elective/ emergency operations are performed
daily/ round the clock, out of which many are on day care basis.
Ergonomics of the operation rooms:
Seamless flooring, slopping walls and ceiling made up of Zinc
Passivated galvanized steel sprayed with 400 micron thick
antibacterial paint.
Washable antistatic and conductive flooring resistant to mechanical
stress and dynamic loads.
Theatre with air exhausts outlets one at each corner near floor is
provided with HEPA filters and a central plainair covered with hand
woven perforated polyester sheet. All combined together give the air
flow a laminar pattern to minimize Surgical Site Infection (SSI).
The ceiling mounted friendly Operating Lights emitting white and
shadow less light.
The electro hydraulic operating tables that offer maximum
flexibility in their use for doing a variety of surgeries.
Twin plate X-Ray viewing box flashed with the wall.
Cascade pressure stabilizer having 304 grade SS blades.
2 Bay stainless steel scrub sinks.
All theatres are provided with continuous central supply for oxygen,
nitrous oxide, high and low pressure air at required flow and
pressures.
Uninterrupted electricity supply through UPS is ensured in the
theaters.
The spacious pre and postoperative areas are fitted with modern
monitors along with other paraphernalia for continuous observation of
patients.
A patient shifting system is in place for smooth transfer of
patients from table to trolley, trolley to bed and vice versa.
Keeping in view the apprehensions of attendants, a meticulous
informing system through announcements and meetings by a doctors and
the facility of conferencing are in place.
Anesthesia Services in OT : Historically anesthesiologists have
been known as physicians who administer anesthesia to alleviate pain
and suppress consciousness of patients undergoing surgery.
Today, anesthesiologists monitor a whole range of body functions and
vital signs, such as breathing, blood oxygen, blood pressure and heart
rate to protect your health. Advances in patient monitoring, improved
anesthetic agents and new drug therapies have empowered the
anesthesiologists in a huge way and enabled them to provide the
patient with much better and painless services.
At Indus Hospital, we use the latest equipment and techniques and have
an excellent and renowned team of anesthesiologists to make our
patients comfortable and ensure they are in the best hands at all
times. The department provides anaesthetic services for all major
specialties. The operation theatres are well equipped with modern
anaesthetic machines with adequate safety devices. All theatres have
state of the art patient monitoring systems.
Anaesthesia services outside the operation theatre are provided for
various procedures in : gastroenterology for endoscopy, in vitro
fertilization for oocyte retrieval, radiology for angiography and
intravenous pyelography, electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), the cath lab
for cerebral angiography and coiling of aneurysms and dental treatment
in the day care setting.

CSSD.
Equipment
The O.Ts are equipped with state-of–the-art equipment like C-arms,
operating microscopes, blood gas analysers, thermoelastrography,
anaesthesia machines etc.
Training
Indus Super-Speciality Hospital has consultants who regularly keep
on updating themselves in their respective specialties and equipment
handling through regular CMEs held in various parts of the country and
abroad.
O.T. personnel are also regularly trained on various aspects like
use of disinfectants, sterilants, handling equipment, preparation of
medication, infection control practices, waste management, patient
management and observing universal standard precautions etc.
Live transmissions for training purpose are done every year.
Chairman O.T. Committee and O.T. Administrator along with various
members of O.T. committee (Sr. Surgeons, Bio-Medical Technologists,
Pathologists/Microbiologist, Nursing superintendent), Infection
Control Nurse periodically meet to review the performance of various
activities of theatre
