The department of Medicine covers
practically all specialties like Gastroenterology and Nephrology,
Neurology, Oncology, Respiratory and Chest, Endocrinology besides
General Medicine. It has highly experienced consultants who are
capable of diagnosing and treating complicated medical problems in
various fields of endocrinology, rheumatology, pulmonology, clinical
haematology, medical oncology, infectious diseases and primary
immunological disorders. The best possible care is given to patients
with any kind of medical related problem.
The hospital is also recognized as a teaching institution for DNB
students in Family Medicine.
Intensive Care
Since time is crucial for patients with life threatening
infections (septicaemia), the department has a back-up of microbiology
with its rapid diagnostic culture, techniques (BacT/Alert) which help
in the management of patients. Sick patients are treated in the ICU
where there are Critical Care Specialists (including anaesthetists)
who coordinate with the medicine department utilizing state-of-the-art
equipment such as respirators, cardiac monitors, pulse oximeters and
defibrillators. Assessment of patients and their efficient monitoring
is done by an expert team of specialists, nursing and para-medical
staff round the clock.
